LONDON: Free Balochistan Movement (FBM) in its statement declared the Reko Diq agreement as illegal and urged Barrick Gold Corporation that it was violating moral and legal aspects by signing such agreements with Pakistan. “The Baloch nation will not be bound to abide by any agreements between Pakistan and international companies regarding mineral resources of Balochistan.”
The statement said that a company from a sovereign country with its free ethical principles should not enter into any agreement with a looter and plunderer because Pakistan has forcibly occupied Balochistan and is looting Baloch resources at gunpoint against the will of the Baloch nation.
The statement further said that it does not befit the civilised world to become complicit of a looter in its exploitative policies in Balochistan.
The FBM in its statement questioned the Barrick Gold Corporation that if an aggressor [like Pakistan] occupied Saudi and Venezuelan’s oil, Chile’s copper, US’s wheat and Azerbaijani’s gas, would the Barrick Gold make deals with them?. If it cannot make agreements with them because is illegal, then how can it justify its agreements with Pakistan that has been looting Balochistan’s gold and copper since occupation?
The statement further said that when Russia invaded Ukraine, all the countries of the world rose to help Ukraine and instead of exploiting Ukraine’s resources during the Russian occupation, the international community and companies are imposing sanctions on Russia.
Pakistan has also occupied Balochistan in the same way, then under what grounds can an agreement with one occupier be declared illegal and immoral but legitimate with another?
The Free Balochistan Movement has urged the Government and people of Canada not to put themselves in the wrong direction of history by joining the ranks of looters of Balochistan’s resources.
The FBM emphasised that the Baloch nation after regaining its independence will not honour any agreement signed by the occupying Pakistan state.
